Meet Megan

Oddly Specific started the way a lot of small businesses do — with a hobby that got completely out of hand.

I’m Megan: wife, mom of four, maker of things, and the person behind Oddly Specific.

I’ve always loved crafting, but somewhere along the way it became more than a hobby. One of the moments that really started it all was when I decided every kid in my children’s classrooms needed a personalized Christmas ornament.

Every. Single. Kid.

Because some kids have names they’ll never walk into a store and find sitting on a shelf. And I wanted each of them to have something with their name on it — something made specifically for them.

That feeling is still my favorite part of what I do. There’s nothing better than watching someone open something I made and seeing their face light up because it’s so completely them.

Truthfully, I’d probably make things for people for free forever… but at the rate this hobby escalated, it was eventually going to bankrupt me. So, Oddly Specific was born.

And while I’m the maker, I’m definitely not doing this alone. My husband — lovingly referred to as my “Admin” — is my biggest cheerleader, my sounding board, my problem-solver, and truly my rock. He’s the guy behind the scenes who hears “Okay, I have an idea…” and somehow continues supporting me despite knowing that sentence may end with another machine arriving at our house.

At the center of all of it are our four kids. They’re my reason for wanting to turn something I love into something bigger — to have more freedom, make more memories, give them more experiences and, if they get their way, eventually put a ridiculously big pool in our backyard.

Oddly Specific isn’t about making a bunch of identical stuff.

It’s about making your thing — the weird idea, the inside joke, the special memory, the name you can never find on a shelf.

Because the best things usually are a little oddly specific.

You bring the story.
I’ll make the thing.
